Our client is a dynamic and rapidly growing Challenger Bank with ambitious growth forecasts for the years ahead. Over recent years, they have achieved significant growth and are now focusing on becoming a data-driven business to sustain and enhance this trajectory cost-effectively. As part of this commitment, they have made a significant investment in a new data platform.

About the Opportunity: Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Data Architecture to lead their Business Intelligence function under the direction of the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis. This role is pivotal in driving their data strategy and ensuring that their data platform delivers the insights and reports critical to their success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Influence the development and onboarding of systems according to the Bank’s data architecture principles.
  • Own, develop, and update the Bank’s Data Platform, Architecture, and Governance strategies, driving long-term vision and ensuring timely updates.
  • Lead a team consisting of ETL Developers and Data Governance Analysts, mentoring and building career development plans.
  • Manage the Data Warehouse, addressing issues promptly and ensuring optimal performance.
  • Oversee all development activities, incorporating additional systems or data sources as needed, while adhering to the Bank’s policies and procedures.
  • Drive the development and implementation of the Bank’s Data Strategy, defining and enhancing how the Bank interacts with and values its data resources.
  • Ensure data projects are fully defined and costed, aligning architecture design principles with the Bank’s data model and overseeing data platform and architecture delivery.
  • Support the Data Governance Analyst in coordinating the Data Governance Organisation, managing reporting, issue/risk management, and administration.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Analytics & Insights to ensure high standards in MI reporting and analytics delivery, defining requirements for advanced analytical capabilities.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and senior management, ensuring clear and effective communication.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a senior Data Architecture role within a data-driven organisation.
  • Strong expertise in data warehouse management, data governance, and data architecture principles.
  • Proficiency in Snowflake, Tableau, and other relevant data technologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with a focus on mentoring and career development.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with a vision for driving long-term data initiatives.
