Our client is a leading financial services organisation based in Brighton.

The Windows 10/11 Engineer is responsible for managing, maintaining, and deploying Windows 10/11 operating systems across the organisation's infrastructure. The role focuses on ensuring optimal performance, security, and compliance of end-user devices while providing technical support and solutions for a seamless user experience. The role will also involve collaboration with IT teams to implement, troubleshoot, and enhance Windows environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Windows 10/11 Deployment & Management:

    • Plan, configure, and deploy Windows 10/11 operating systems using SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager), Intune, or similar tools.
    • Perform OS image creation, customization, and updates.
    • Automate deployment and configuration using PowerShell scripts and group policies.
    • Manage and maintain Windows device settings, security, and patching.
  2. System Optimization and Troubleshooting:

    • Monitor system performance, resolve issues, and ensure systems are running optimally.
    • Provide second and third-line support for Windows 10/11-related issues, collaborating with helpdesk and end-user teams.
    • Perform root cause analysis on OS-related incidents and recurring problems.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with Active Directory, group policies, and system configurations.
  3. Security & Compliance:

    • Ensure security patches and updates are applied in a timely manner to all Windows systems.
    • Implement endpoint protection solutions and perform regular system audits to ensure security compliance.
    • Manage BitLocker encryption and other security features in Windows 10/11.
    • Assist in developing and enforcing compliance policies for Windows environments based on industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
  4. Software Management:

    • Install, update, and manage software packages on Windows devices using automation tools (e.g., Intune, SCCM).
    • Manage application compatibility and troubleshoot software issues within the Windows 10/11 environment.
    • Create and maintain software deployment packages.
  5. User Support & Training:

    • Provide support for Windows-based applications and services.
    • Assist users with Windows 10/11 features, including configuration and customization for optimal productivity.
    • Document processes and provide training sessions or guides for end-users and IT staff.
  6. Collaboration & Project Support:

    • Work closely with other IT teams (network, security, and application teams) to integrate Windows systems with enterprise infrastructure.
    • Participate in or lead projects related to Windows upgrades, migrations, and transitions (e.g., Windows 10 to Windows 11 migration).
    • Collaborate with vendors and service providers for system maintenance and troubleshooting.
  7. Continuous Improvement:

    • Stay up to date with the latest features, updates, and best practices for Windows 10/11.
    • Research, test, and recommend new tools, techniques, and methods for improving the Windows environment.
    • Contribute to process improvements in managing and deploying Windows systems.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience:

    • 3-5 years of experience managing and deploying Windows operating systems, preferably in a corporate environment.
    • Hands-on experience with Windows 10/11 system administration, including Active Directory, Group Policy Management, and SCCM/Intune.
    • Experience with OS deployment, automation (PowerShell), and system monitoring tools.
    • Experience in troubleshooting hardware and software issues in a Windows environment.
    • Familiarity with cloud-based solutions (Azure, Office 365, etc.) and virtual desktop environments (VDI, RDS).

Key Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 architecture and features.
  • Proficiency in SCCM, Intune, MDT (Microsoft Deployment Toolkit), and other deployment tools.
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for automation.
  • Strong understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) in Windows environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of Windows security principles (BitLocker, encryption, MFA).
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Certifications:

  • Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate (preferred)
  • CompTIA A+, Network+ (optional)
  • ITIL Foundation (optional)
